We’re Looking for a Few Good Men and Women
Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich is seeking applicants to fill numerous vacant positions in the sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Program.
Reserve Deputies perform much of the duties of regular deputy sheriff’s, but on a volunteer basis. They can perform patrol duties alone or in pairs depending on their level of training, all of which is provided by the sheriff’s office.
For the first time, applicants must pass physical ability requirements which include a 300 meter sprint (in less than 71 seconds), 21 push-ups, 25 sit-ups within one minute, and a 1.5-mile run in under 14 and a half minutes.
Applicants must be 21 years old and a U.S. citizen, must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent, must be able to read and write the English language, and must pass a thorough background review which includes an integrity interview and oral boards.
Persons interested in obtaining more information about the Reserve Deputy Program can contact Lt. Steve Jones at 509-477-3355, or Deputy John Oliphant in the Sheriff’s Training Office, 509-477-3211.
The fitness ability test is scheduled on September 13th at 9 a.m. at the Spokane Community College. The next Reserve Academy will start in January or February 2009.
