Applicants will be required to pass the minimum physical fitness test for that classification established as job related in cooperation with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
Successful applicants are classified as Officer Candidates and are enrolled in the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy immediately following appointment. On graduation from the Academy, they are commissioned as Deputy Sheriffs in the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
After graduation from an accredited basic corrections officer academy, a minimum of two years of non-military, continuous corrections officer experience with a single law enforcement agency, and separated less than two years.
This is the dispatch position within the sheriff's office. This position requires that an individual be able to multitask and is a very high stress position. Requires keyboarding speed of 30 wpm.
Process all film brought into the Forensic Unit. Also, classifies fingerprints by the Henry and NCIC systems, and checks them on the computer and on AFIS for a possible match. This requires keyboarding speed of 30 wpm
Crime scene officer. Collects all evidence at crime scenes, dusts for and lifts fingerprints, take photographs, and testify in court.
A Clerical Assistant is required to type accurately at 40 words per minute. All of these positions are in the Jail and Require shift work.
Must have a current Washington State RN license with a minimum of three years experience.

Applicants must have a minimum of two year's institutional cooking experience. "Short order Cook" or "fry cook" experience is not acceptable.
Automotive Technician requires a minimum of 2 years experience in automotive work.
Automotive Service Technician must have experience with lube, oil, filter service, rotating tires, etc.

Candidates will be required to pass a medical examination before final certification for appointment. Medical examiner will certify as to their physical fitness for the position which they are being considered.

Handicapped people who can meet the physical requirements of the classification will be considered on an individual basis.
